Annual Awards Banquet

The Annual Awards Banquet is held on a Saturday evening each year in March to honor the success of our Big Game winners (biggest antler buck by the Virginia scoring system and the biggest buck, doe, bear and turkey by weight in Virginia,) Double & Triple Crown Tournament winners, Double and Triple Slam winners (a deer, bear and turkey with a bow within one season in Virginia,) Clubs with an increase in memberships, Order of the Golden Feather members, and other awards.  The banquet allows our members to socialize with other archers, bowhunters and their guest; win door prizes, a chance for a hunt, to listen to our guest speaker and any other special announcements.

VBA Banquet

The VBA banquet celebrated the Association’s 70th anniversary and, like the VBA, was unique in many ways.  It was our first time at the venue (Ruritan club in Keezletown), the first time our guest speaker (Mark Damian Duda, CEO of Responsive Management) has given a presentation in the Harrisonburg area (his home) despite lecturing around the world for years, and it was the first time the primary audience for our speaker’s remarks where the kids in attendance – all of whom were invited to sit right in front of the podium.

We also had lots of fun “happenings”: good conversation at the tables, lots of raffle tickets sold,

presentation of a dozen arrows by “Bink’ Yager and Dave Proctor to Steve Hearne (winner of the Trail

Camera Contest).

The evening concluded with Terry Ballowe’s induction into the VBA “Order of the Golden Feather”.
