but it’s not close to their location. We would like to see more VBA clubs
around the Commonwealth. If y=
ou
would like to start an archery club – we can help you!
The following are=
the
requirements in order to become a charter VBA club (target and/or 3-D):
1.
Endorsement of a
sponsoring club, signed by the President and Secretary.
2.
Pay a VBA charter=
fee
of $20.00.
3.
Have a minimum of=
10
members.
4.
All VBA membershi=
p dues
must accompany the application.
5.
The range facilit=
ies
and course must be approved by the Field Governor or his/her representative=
.
6.
Provide the
President’s and Secretary’s mailing and email addresses, phone
nos., club’s mailing address and location of the club/range.
7.
Or, charter as an
Associate club with full voting privileges, but without an approved range or
may not sponsor invitational sanctioned tournaments.
Note: In order to establish an archery r=
ange,
a club will need at least one acre of land for a 14/28 Field Target and/or =
3-D
range, a practice range, and clubhouse/facilities.

recently received the VDGIF Hunting Incident (Firearms/Treestand) report covering the
periods from
Karen Holson, the VDGIF Outdoor Education Supervisor and Virgin=

NASP State Coordinator, has asked us if any of our VBA members in the
surrounding areas of Augusta County would like to help with their “=
span>First Annual NASP=
State
Tournament on February 28, 2009 at the Augusta Expoland in Fishersville, VA., =
and in
cooperation with Western Virginia Sports Show. They need volunteers to help with =
the
following:
Line judges (helpful to know scoring on the ten rings) al=
so
inspect the bows for sight markings
Registration
Bow loaner and repair
Scoring / score card processing
Relief workers
In conjunction with working with the VDGIF, this would be a gre=
at
opportunity for the VBA to let folks know about our organization, what we d=
o,
our VBA clubs, our ASAP program and getting folks involved in archery. To date they have over 25 schools =
that
have expressed interest in participating in this event. The deadline for the schools to re=
gister
is January 30th, so she will know more on how many students will=
be
coming.

Hunters for the Hungry Update
So far, 300,000 pounds of meat have been process. Twice in H4H history, they have ha=
d to
stop accepting deer this time of the year due to current economic
conditions. Hopefully, they w=
ant
have too! The feeding program=
s that
they supply venison to say that they are seeing an increase in request for =
help
of at least 30%. Many feeding
agencies are calling and saying that have no meat. Please help H4H to continue to acc=
ept
all the deer that hunters want to donate.
Also, the average cost of processing is $40.00 per deer a=
nd
with your donation(s) they can continue to process and provide quality meat=
to
our neighbors in need. If you=
would
